CDMA Technology
CDMA Technology is transmitted in a large arc compared to GSM or TDMA technology.  That is the reason that flashing items do not always flash when you get a call.  CDMA is a high tech network with many capabilities to transmit data, pictures, etc.

When your choose your service:

1. Think where you are going to use your phone.  If you travel outside of the digital footprint, which is your home area or roam area, your single band phone will not work even in an emergency.  You can use it as a door stop but not a cell phone when outside your digitial area.  I suggest you evaluate your usage before you choose a provider.  If you are going to use GSM then at least find a cell phone that is not active to carry with you. (be sure it is charged).  Why?  Because you can use your old bag phone or any other service providers phone for 911 calls only.  Better yet, invest in a dual band phone then you will have the best of both worlds!

2. Evaluate which phone best fits your needs.  Don't settle for the FREE phone if it is not going to give you the features you want just because it is free,  Remember, when you sign an agreement with a service provider and get a free phone or discounted price phone you are on a contract unless you use pre-pay.  Try, if at all possible, not to sign a two year agreement no matter what!  That is my opinion,  Why?  Technology is speeding ahead so fast that your phone may be obsolete for the new services in one year.
