Choosing the Correct Hands Free Cell Phone Device for You.

Thank you for referring to this article regarding hands free cell phone devices before you make a choice on what type to buy.
First thing to address about ALL hands free headsets, is that it is safer to use them while driving so you have two hands on the wheel and you are not taking your eyes off the road when you get a call or when you need to place a call. Please read it before you decide what type of hands free device you need.
Think safety first!  Some states require the use of hands free devices by law because of the number of accidents created by people who use their phone while driving and holding the phone up to their ear.  Hands free headsets come in either ear bud style, where earpiece fits into your ear when talking on the phone, and typically has a hang down microphone to talk to people.
Then, there is the
ear hook style that wraps around your ear and you position the earpiece to fit your ear.  These are great to put on when you get in the car then when you get a call, all you have to do is press the ear bud to the ear canal and answer your phone.  Again, these typically have a hang down microphone so you can converse with the other person.
Nearly ALL of hands free, ear bud or loop style has a button on the hang down microphone.  Some manufacturers of phones build a function in to the phone so you can answer the call by pressing the button and end the call by pressing the button.  Not all cell phones have this feature.  You need to refer to the manufacturer book that came with your phone.  The one I use has the feature that I can use the button to place the last call by pressing it two times slowly, in a row and I don’t have to open my phone to make the call.  Some manufacturers use the button as a mute function and some it has no function at all.
Now some of the newer phones use Bluetooth technology that eliminates the wires.  The manufacturer built in the use of a Bluetooth Style hands free headset where you just where a headset wrapped around your ear and when you need to answer the phone you just press the button on the headset and end the call the same way.
There are many styles of Bluetooth headsets on the market.  Not always the least expensive is right for you.  Look at the specifications carefully.  Some only have 3 – 4 hours talk time before you need to re-charge it.  Some on the market have 8 – 10 hours of talk time.  If you use your phone allot then look at the ones with longer talk time.  You will be disappointed if you purchase one with low talk and standby time just because it is less money.  Remember, your phone has the technology and now you have to choose which Bluetooth is right for you.  Again, think safety first.  Put it on when you get in the car so you are ready to use your cell phone with the bluetooth technology.
I use a hands free ear bud headset that stays plugged into my phone so all I have to do is press the button to answer and end my calls.  I rarely ever hold the phone up to my ear.  Being a female, I don’t want makeup all over the screen and my arms get tired of holding the phone.  Everybody needs to evaluate what method is best for you.  I do know that more states will ticket you if they catch you using your phone in the car without a hands free device.  That doesn’t mean you need fancy built in hands free microphones that come through the speakers.  Just like at home when you use a speakerphone, every sound is picked up including wind, others in the car, engine noise.
I use the ear bud with a car charger (if needed) and have a phone holder that mounts on the vents of my vehicle so the phone is in the line of site.  It works and much less expensive than fancy installed car kits or ones that plugs into your 12V adapter or even the car baby that clamps over the speaker to use the speakers in the car.  Some people like the built in and it works for them but I am not in my car enough to justify that type of hands free when a less that $10 headset will accomplish the same purpose.

Remember, SAFETY FIRST for yourself, your family and all the other people on the road.
